What another great week in the Backyard! We did not have a Ladies night because of Remembrance Day, but some Ladies ended up in the winner’s circle in the Tier 4 doubles play on Tuesday night. It took Lynette and Bonnie D some time to gel, but after going 1-2 in the round-robin, they picked up their socks in the bracket. It was still not easy because Marla and Stewie (Duck Man) knocked them down to the B-side in the A-final and were sitting on the throne. Lynette and Bonnie had a close game against Ash and Sarah, but they found their way back to the final, so they sought revenge. They needed to double-dip Marla and Stewie to take the win, and they did just that, winning 24-7 in game one and 21-5 in game two.

TOP PPR
1-Oopsidacey – 6.85
2- Bonnie D – 6.81
3- Wendy – 6.63

In Tier 3 doubles, Patches and Glenny beat Newson and Caesar to win the doubles night. Once the partners were drawn, it was clear that Patches and Glen would be the team to beat. They did not disappoint in the round-robin when they were the only team to go 3-0. The bracket started, and they continued their dominance, reaching the King Seat. They beat Rick and Damara in the A-final, and then Rick and Damara tried to return to the final but ran into a hot Newson and Caesar in the B-final. It was close, but with a 22-17 victory, Newson and Caesar were heading back to play the Kings. Game one went to Newson and Caesar 22-13, but Patches found his game, and with a 10.4 PPR, aided by Glenny’s 8 PPR, they won game two, 21-8 to win the night.

TOP PPR
1- Glenny – 8.14
2- Newson – 8.09
3- Damara – 8.02

Our Friday Night FunHolio was moved to Saturday as the SCA hosted a Regina and District Food Bank fundraiser. It was a fantastic night of tossing for a great cause, where all the proceeds of the evening were going to the Food Bank. The Backyard donated all the prizes for the evening, and with entry money and booze/food sales, we raised over $2000 for the Food Bank. The SCA will be topping that total up to $5000 and donating along with the food people brought to the Food Bank. Thank you so much for all who joined us that evening.

STEW – Ducky Man will climb to the top as a person to watch. I know Stewie is busy these days but always a threat to win when he does come out.
WENDY – One of my favourite players and humans. Every time she comes out, she plays well and competes for a win. I wish she could play more because I think she would do amazing things with her game.

My name is Kevin Bittman, and I am on the board of the SCA and a member of the Backyard Pigeon Coop. I have been playing cornhole for a couple of years, and I would say I am not great, but I try to get better every week. Cornhole, for me, is a fantastic community of people that, no matter your skill level, you can come out and have fun at the Backyard at the SCA. The blog is my opinion and how I see things in Regina’s cornhole scene. It is meant to be a way to keep people engaged in what is going on at the Backyard and the SCA. My hope is we can continue growing the game in Regina and Saskatchewan. The Backyard at the SCA is located at 2363 2nd Avenue in Regina. The venue has eight regulation cornhole lanes, a bar, and kitchen. Each week, the Backyard hosts events for all skill levels, and I will attempt to highlight some of these events and give my perspective on the club and the players in Saskatchewan.
