Where It All Started
The Saskatchewan Cornhole Association originated from a backyard game, a phone call to the President of the CCL in 2019, and what we are today. We originated at the Italian club throughout the pandemic and then moved to the Hungarian Club until today. Now, the SCA has formed to grow the game of cornhole here in Saskatchewan. We will be hosting clinics on how to play the game and expanding it here in our great province.
League Descriptions
Kids & Caregiver Nights are our Beginner level of players. All age ranges for both kids and caregivers are welcome!! These beginner players are wanting to learn, enjoy, and explore the game of cornhole for the fun of the sport. Generally, this level of player is new to the game or may have thrown bags in their backyard. If you have never played the game of cornhole before, this is your place to start!
The progression of this tier will see players going from having very little control over where the bag is going, and the bag often misses the board to players developing a feel for the distance needed to toss the bag but will have trouble consistently hitting and staying on the board. Typically, this level of player is in the beginning stages of developing a consistent throwing motion that can be repeated.
The goal of the Kids & Caregiver Night is to provide a social outlet where players can socialize while learning to play the game of cornhole and support each other’s skill development and gameplay strategy as they grow their skills in the sport of cornhole. Ultimately, the Association would love all our Parents & Youth to grow their wings and begin to fly the coop, aka move up into the Tier 4 “Backyard Pigeons”
level.

Ladies League - Information
Social, learn to play, tier 5, cornhole league. The goal is to provide a social outlet where women can socialize and support each other’s skill development and strategy as they grow the sport of cornhole.
Depending on the number and skill level of the ladies registered, each week, the ladies will determine what style of games they play. For example, if only five registered ladies have 1+ years of experience, they may decide to run a double elimination singles bracket with a 4-game round robin. These games will be more competitive and generally have faster, higher-caliber gameplay. Where if there are 16 ladies registered and half of them have less than one year of experience or are first-timers, they may decide to run a switcheroo (alternating partners during a 3-game round robin, going into a double elimination doubles bracket) as these games permit more time for the new players to learn from the experienced players, while still keeping a nice pace of play that aims to be fair to both new and experienced players.
- When - all Mondays, excluding stat holidays
- Cost - $120, for approx. 12 weeks of play (depending on # of Stat holidays in the season)
- Seasons run –
- September to December
- January to April

“Backyard Hawks” is our Tier 3 level of players. These players have a solid understanding of all aspects of the game and game strategy. They are at the intermediate towards advanced skill level with a higher ability to carry out their intended gameplay. In the heat of the moment, these fierce competitors may struggle with selecting the most effective game strategy to defeated their competitors. Yet, as true competitors, they are aware of their competition’s skill level, and to be successful, they strategically adjust their game play based on their competitor. These players have noticeable precision, consistency, and accuracy in their shots, often competing at the “Competitive” or “Advanced” level, and likely play and practice on a regular basis. These players might be called upon to assist with the coaching of new players, players in other tiers, as well as to participate in showcasing the sport of cornhole at various BackYard initiatives.
When: Tuesdays @ 6:30 pm Arrive early to warm up & develop skills.
Cost Singles – $100 per person for 8 weeks of game play or 20$ per person nightly drop-in.

“Backyard Pigeons” is our Tier 4 intermediate level of player. These players have a solid understanding of the game and most of the game strategy. They might be at the beginner towards intermediate skills level with their ability to carry out their intended gameplay. They may struggle with consistency and accuracy in their shots and are working to develop consistent and accurate game skills and strategy. At times, these players look unstoppable and like they can beat anyone, but in a subsequent game they can struggle. Some players may even go from a 4 Baggers to a Floor Baggers in a subsequent round.
The goal of the “Backyard Pigeons” league is multifaceted. Ultimately, the Association and players would love all our Pigeons to fly the coop, aka move up into the Tier 3 “Backyard Hawks” level. However, everyone enjoys the social comradery, support, and guidance in each other’s game play, skills, and strategy provided by players in this tier.
