When I tell people about our cornhole club, it is always met with the same sarcastic comment about the name, but once we get past the name, the conversation goes like this. I have met people that I now call friends that I would have never met if it was not for cornhole. People of all ages. These are people that I look forward to having a conversation with every week. A lot of the people, the only thing we might have in common is cornhole, but it does not matter. That is the significant part of this game and community; the people. The feedback we get about our club is that the people are so friendly and helpful. We take pride in this atmosphere and only have the players to thank for it.
The SCA proudly announces that we are bringing in a band on our Friday night FunHolio on April 5th. King For A Day was in the club playing for a private event a couple of weeks ago, and they were awesome, so we booked them again. They will be set up to play four sets starting around eight o’clock. The cost of the FunHolio will be $25. Register early because spots will fill up fast. The energy and sound we hope the band will bring will add a great element to the night and are guaranteed to be a good time.

This week’s play started with a Ladies Switch. We welcomed a newbie Brooke to the night. Brooke was playing at a private event in the afternoon and loved it so much that she stayed for Ladies Night. After the round-robin and the teams were set, Marla and Courtney ran through the A-side of the bracket and were awaiting the winner of the B-side. The Queen Seat must have been comfortable because Kim wasted no time in beating the Queens in game one. Game two was much closer, but the result was the same. Kim and her partner, herself, won the night.
Tuesday Doubles Hawk action saw the two-time defending Tuesday night winners, Backdoor Bandits, trying for a three-peat and were rolling once again. This week, Louie was back, but the Bandits still went undefeated on the A-side and were sitting in the King Seat waiting for their opponent from the B-side. After a lucky win against Tennessee Whiskey, the Dream Crushers took down SureFire Swag to set up a chance to knock off the champs. Game one went to the Crushers, and in game two, it was even worse as Caesar fired a 10.25 PPR on the way to a four-round win to take the Tuesday night win.

The Pigeon Doubles event was exciting but for a different reason this week. The last couple of Pigeon Double events had FunBags turning heads, but this week, it was Joe Squared who was making a statement. This was their first week playing in Tier 4 together. Joey and Joe P typically play Tier 5, but with the Penguins moving to Wednesday, a scheduling conflict has them competing up a division. Their 3-1 round-robin record did not translate into bracket success, as the usual suspects found their way to the top. Bonnie and Sarah (Just BS), after a 3-1 record in the round-robin, went undefeated in the bracket to win the night. I would not say they had it easy, as they only beat Mike and Jason (Ain’t My Fault) 21-20 to take the throne. Ain’t My Fault was then forced to go down and face the ever-difficult Double Trouble. Lucas and Lynette were firing in this match-up and handled them perfectly in eight rounds to set up their match-up with Bonnie and Sarah, which they ended up losing.

Wednesday, the Penguin division was playing a BYOP event, and ten teams turned up to battle it out. Big shout out to Lorne and Joann for the patching Corn to be Wild shirts. They looked amazing, and your energy and passion for the game are exciting. The Cement Heads found themselves in the King Seat in the Penguin play. Pink Genie and Marcus were playing well, and it would be interesting if they could fend off the challenge from Kim and Joe after they beat Bill and Marla for the opportunity. Game one was tough for the Cement Heads as The Chuckers won 21-3. In game two, Sam and Marcus found their game and took down the win.

Friday Night Funholio was rocking again as 74 players came out for a fun night of tossing. Friday night is geared for a place to come try the game in a social setting. There are many opinions on the format of this event and what will make it more fun for everyone. I may dive into some of the formats in future blogs, but with 74 players coming out, it must be a good time for the people that attend every week. This week, we saw Jonathan and Stich beat Ringo and Daysey to win the week.

- Jonathan– Stays in the number one spot.
- Spilly – still had the best PPR on Tuesday and continues to set the bar high for all the Hawks.
- Newson – with a Doubles win on Tuesday will stay in the three spot.
- Crystal—Did not play this week.
- Patches – stays in the fifth spot.
TIER 4 Power Ranking. These rankings are difficult to complete, with so many of the top players not playing every week.
- B-RAD—Did not play but but nobody really spoke to me to warrant a change of the top spot.
- Oopsidacey – stays in the two spot
- Bonnie Day – firing great but next week’s singles should be able to determine the top three spots
- Ringo—Regan stays in the fourth spot.
- Lynette – with a 6.65 PPR on Tuesday shows her game is coming into form. I have played, actually won events with Lynette and I will be the first one
to say, if she is on her game everyone in tier 4 should be worried.
